If you are looking for the ultimate Japan experience that is unlike all of your friends' trips, look no further than a visit to Rishiri. Start by flying into Sapporo or Asahikawa on the island of Hokkaido and spend some time exploring the classics. Then we set you up with 3-days guided skiing on Rishiri with a professional guide certified by the Japanese Mountain Guide Association (JMGA).

Rishiri has a population of around 5,000 people and is accessed by ferry or by airplane. JAL operates daily flights from Sapporo's Okadama airport, or you can explore the remote reaches of northern Hokkaido and catch a ferry from Wakkanai at the northern tip of Hokkaido. Once on the island, you can either sleep in your vehicle or rent a room at the guide's family pension which offers breakfast and dinner each day.

We recommend 14-days for this tour, however it can be done in 10-days, or even as little as 7-days. Scheduling 3-days of guiding is recommended to ensure the best opportunity for good weather and snow so you can get up high on the mountain.
